About Life Skills House

Life Skills House was founded as a Texas not for profit 501(c)(3) organization. We provide Christian based spiritual and financial coaching for for multicultural young women, including but not limited to, those who were victims of human trafficking, those who are pregnant and single mothers from economically challenged backgrounds, ages 15-25, who are serious about breaking free from a lifestyle of impoverishment. We offer assistance to young women as they move from dependent, often abusive relationships, into independent self-sufficient lifestyles.

Our passion is to help participants receive spiritual and emotional healing from their painful past to be set free and embrace their God-designed bright future. We believe that it is imperative to portray Christianity as a lifestyle. We are committed to walk alongside them as they learn to invite Christ to take the lead in every area of their lives so that change will take root from the inside out. A close walk with Christ coupled with the coaching sessions will be empowering; they will no longer be seen as a liability in the community but instead major contributors in accomplishing God's purpose and plan on this earth.

Leah Gonzales
Director

Founder,  Leah Gonzales, is the driving force behind the organization and fills the Director role. Leah graduated with a B.S. degree in Biblical Counseling from College of Biblical Studies in Houston, TX. In addition, she worked sixteen years as an office manager in the oil and gas industry and aviation business and three years as support staff in the medical field. While working in the corporate world, Leah learned the necessary skills to running every department in an office environment. She also developed skills in recession proofing a small business, which she has translated to be used on an individual level in order to benefit family units as well. Leah also worked for an organization that enters into the world of teen moms on their turf and offers them encouragement to not allow their past circumstances dictate their future, which is where the non-profit journey began.

1 Thes. 5:11 reminds us to encourage one another and build each other up, not only when someone's life is wrapped in a nice neat package but to meet them in the midst of the chaos and help them get back up.

In addition to pouring her time into Life Skills House, Leah writes and manages a blog specifically geared to encourage others on their journey. Leah has also authored and published a daily devotional and committed all proceeds to benefit Life Skills House.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leah Gonzales.
Leah, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born and raised in Louisiana where I was a single mom and learned many valuable lessons as I pressed past the financial struggles that come with being a single parent. Once I moved to Texas, I worked my way up the corporate ladder. My corporate experience encompassed sixteen years of office management in the oil and gas industry and aviation business. While working as an office manager, I learned the necessary skills to run every department in an office environment as well as the skills to recession-proof a small business. These skills proved to be very beneficial as I embarked on the next phase in my life. It was at that time that God called me to start pouring into young single moms and sharing some of the strategies that I learned along the way. keep reading...
